{"id":2402,"date":"2022-10-18T10:51:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T10:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/atableforone.co.za\/?p=2402"},"modified":"2022-10-19T12:47:02","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T12:47:02","slug":"weltevrede-wine-estate-announces-opening-of-kapokbos-restaurant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atableforone.co.za\/index.php\/2022\/10\/18\/weltevrede-wine-estate-announces-opening-of-kapokbos-restaurant\/","title":{"rendered":"WELTEVREDE WINE ESTATE ANNOUNCES OPENING OF KAPOKBOS RESTAURANT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;family-owned&nbsp;Weltevrede&nbsp;Wine Estate<strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;situated just&nbsp;outside the town of&nbsp;Bonnievale, in the Robertson Wine Valley in the Western Cape, is proud to announce the opening of its new&nbsp;recently launched&nbsp;Kapokbos Restaurant<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was also announced the winner in the Architecture &amp; Landscape&nbsp;and&nbsp;the Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences categories at the prestigious<em>&nbsp;<\/em>Great Wine Capitals Best Of Wine Tourism Awards (BOWTA) 2023<em>&nbsp;<\/em>for Cape Town &amp; the Cape Winelands, held at Weltevrede Wine Estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kapokbos Restaurant, beautifully situated on the estate overlooking&nbsp;the newly landscaped&nbsp;rose-and-vine garden and named&nbsp;after an indigenous Kapokbos herb found in the veld surrounding the estate, is&nbsp;run by the husband-and-wife team, chefs Juan Fourie and Samantha Morris-Fourie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a fine dining and private cheffing background, the Fourie\u2019s have&nbsp;a unique perspective of what works and what doesn&#8217;t. With these upgrades Weltevrede now offers a world-class visitor centre that is&nbsp;open for tastings \u2013&nbsp;a new tasting venue has been added;&nbsp;Underground Tours (world class) where you enter into a world steeped in the history of Chardonnay, old books, artworks, memorabilia and historic exhibits that show its&nbsp;place in history, while highlighting its heritage of winemaking excellence;&nbsp;activities,&nbsp;a new kid\u2019s play area,&nbsp;a&nbsp;beautiful&nbsp;landscaped&nbsp;rose-and-vine garden&nbsp;and of course, the&nbsp;new Kapokbos Restaurant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Already becoming the go-to restaurant in the Robertson Wine Valley area, Kapokbos is open from Tuesday to Sunday from\u00a012:00\u201316:00\u00a0(last seating 15:00), and from 4 November on Friday and Saturday for dinner from 18:00 to 22:00 (last seating 20:00) serving contemporary country cuisine. Dishes\u00a0on the season-appropriate menu include the delicious traditional South African\u00a0skaapstertjie with curried pickle onions and frikkadel with tomato smoor and brandy sultanas, and the\u00a0&#8220;Oh, I\u2019ll have seconds&#8221;\u00a0Amarula ice-cream sandwiches with honeycomb.\u00a0Winetasting snacks are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A member of&nbsp;Cape Country Routes, Weltevrede Wine Estate is&nbsp;arguably&nbsp;one&nbsp;of the oldest South African wine brands still owned and run by the same&nbsp;family \u2013 the Jonker family. The Jonker&nbsp;family&nbsp;has&nbsp;been farming there&nbsp;for a hundred years.
