Cape Summer Villas #TeeOff4Tourism challenge

South Africa’s tourism sector is currently in a dire situation, and Cape Summer Villas has jumped on board to assist the unemployed within the Plettenberg Bay hospitality industry.

As a boutique collection of properties within the Western Cape, Cape Summer Villas believes that it has to get on board and add its voice to the collective of awareness campaigns, such as #ServeUsPlease #Tourisminmyblood and many others as a means to put pressure on the government to re-open the tourism sector.

Paul Duverge, group general manager of Cape Summer Villas Boutique Collection, announced that they will be hosting a fun golf day – The Cape Summer Villa’s #TeeOff4Tourism challenge – on Saturday, 8 August 2020, at the Goose Valley Country Club in Plettenberg Bay.

We’re hoping that this Golf Day initiative of ours will gain momentum and will be picked up by others. We hereby challenge other companies and towns and provinces to start similar initiatives,” he said.

The prime goal of this initiative is to raise funds for the procurement of food for Plettenberg Bay hospitality workers, many of whom are sole breadwinners. With so much uncertainty surrounding the temporary employee relief scheme (TERS), many families within the sector are without an income; right now there is little to no work due to hospitality businesses being unable to open, while those that are trying to operate have little to zero income due to restrictions on leisure travel and the prohibition of alcohol sales.

Duverge added: We are seeking local businesses who are in a position to sponsor prizes and we’re asking the greater business community to support us by taking part in the day, or by sponsoring one of the 18 holes. The cost is R350 per player and we hope to attract a minimum of 100 players.”

Money raised from each ticket sale will be utilised as follows: R150 – Green fee to Goose Valley Country Club; R50 towards a thank-you pack (Cap/Lanyard etc); R150 towards the food parcel fund.

Hole sponsorship prices (prices include a 4 ball)

• 1 to 8 @ R2 500 per hole
• 10 to 17 @ R2 500 per hole
•  9 & 18 @ R3 500 per hole

In addition to the hole sponsorship fee, sponsors are also requested to contribute in any way they can to the welcome/gift packs for each golfer; Cape Summer Villas will be contributing a cap, a lanyard and a bottle opener key ring. The more items that can be added to the welcome pack, the better.
