If you’re in hot pursuit of an adrenaline adventure holiday in nature, then a zipline canopy tour in the company of soaring eagles, surrounded by Cape fynbos and breathtaking panoramas and mountainscapes and only an hour’s drive from Cape Town, could well be exactly what you are looking for.
Described by Lonely Planet as “vertigo-tinged fun” and “an exciting aerial perspective”, Cape Canopy Tour, a member of Cape Country Routes, and located near Grabouw in the Elgin Valley of the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve, offers local and international guests the chance to enjoy breathtaking views of a previously inaccessible part of this pristine World Heritage Site and the opportunity to test their limits by ziplining high up in the mountains, 1 000m above sea level.
Cape Canopy Tour is an award-winning adventure activity that ticks all the boxes. From an exhilarating 4 x 4 journey through the nature reserve to soaring through the air on 11 thrilling slides – some over 300 m long with ziplines ending on a platform on the cliffs of fynbos-covered mountain slopes above the Riviersonderend Gorge; and getting to see one of the unforgettable highlights of the tour – a unique suspension bridge constructed between a narrow sandstone ravine, above a spectacular double waterfall.
A fully guided, adventure activity for nature enthusiasts between the ages of 5 and 75, with a reasonable level of fitness at R995 per person, the tour (of between 4 to 5 hours duration) includes:
- all equipment and training
- a return 4×4 experience through the reserve from the base up into the mountains
