Recipe: yummy bang-bang shrimp

I’ve seen this recipe on social media, and have been longing to create and taste it. It turned out delicious!

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Buttermilk
  • Prawns, uncooked and pealed
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Oil for frying
  • Spring onion and sesame seeds for garnish

Sauce

I deviated a bit from the traditional “bang-bang sauce” because I didn’t have all the ingredients. So I just combined sriracha and mayo with a little bit of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Method

  1. Soak the prawns in buttermilk for about 10 min.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients together and coat the prawns in the mixture.
  3. Fry until crispy and golden brown.
  4. Cover the prawns with the sauce, garnish with finely chopped spring onions, and sesame seeds.
  5. Serve.

I paired my prawns with a beautiful, chilled Sauvignon/Semillon blend.
